While I was being jobless right now, I met some of my old gangs back in highschool. Luckily for me, they were computer-addict, just like me. We (me and Danu) did some chat and agreed to build a tutorial site: for dummies and in Indonesian. At least, this is we could do to contribute in Indonesian education.
The next conference was a mess. You know, when old friends met, they would tell you a lot of untold story, like him now engaged with her or where is he right now, how she is doing now, etc. Need some time to get them to focus about the site. But finally, after some efforts, we could get back to the topic.
We talked about the domain name for our new site. This is the most important and hardest part. It’s about the identation of our site. It should be short, meaningful, catchy, and zero-typo-possibility. Some ideas swinging around. From tutorial12.web.id, belajar.web.id, kuliah.web.id (what?), even x12community (with regards to Mijil, one of the friend involved). But then one word from Sasi silenced the conference. GIMANA. Simple, catchy, questionable, error-free, funky. Next, we agreed to buy “gimana.web.id” domain. Just a moment after the conversation, I registered for gimana.web.id.
One step done, next step: host hunting.

Wireless network at my house
Meet my sister! She was addicted with Instant Messaging. With the coming of Internet at our home, she spent her time on it more. So, there were two people but only one PC connected to the clouds. How to solve this problem?
Lucky for me, as a networking apprentice, I got another PC with wireless device. So I created wireless network at our house. Now, me and my sister could get access to the clouds at the same time on our own machine. How I did it?
The picture above shows the network structure I made to solve this problem. The phone and modem were located on the first floor. I connected the modem to the PC-with-wireless-device. I, then, enabled the Internet sharing on this PC. After that, I configured the first-floor-PC as an access point. And then, I configured another PC-with-wireless-device to make a peer-to-peer connection with the first PC. Here, the second PC could connected to the clouds as long as it got wireless access to the first PC. Even if it was on the second floor, which is my bedroom.
Although right now we could get connected together, there was minor problem. Sometimes, because of the wireless factor, the connection from the access point (first PC) was lost. Just temporary, but it’s a little bug to me. Anyway, now we could access internet together without a fight.
First time I heard this song when I was watching news about condition in Gaza on television. The lyrics was touching and I like it since first time I heard it. You can download and donate on Michael Heart (the composer) site. So here is the lyrics.
WE WILL NOT GO DOWN (Song for Gaza)
(Composed by Michael Heart)
Copyright 2009
A blinding flash of white light
Lit up the sky over Gaza tonight
People running for cover
Not knowing whether they’re dead or alive
They came with their tanks and their planes
With ravaging fiery flames
And nothing remains
Just a voice rising up in the smoky haze
We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
We will not go down
In Gaza tonight
Women and children alike
Murdered and massacred night after night
While the so-called leaders of countries afar
Debated on who’s wrong or right
But their powerless words were in vain
And the bombs fell down like acid rain
But through the tears and the blood and the pain
You can still hear that voice through the smoky haze
We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
We will not go down
In Gaza tonight
Most of the WordPress users place the blogroll on the sidebar. But with the increasing number of links added, the sidebar won’t look so good anymore. This problem finally falls into me. So I wanna find a way to list the blogroll on a separate page.
Google brought me to a plugin (for WordPress) called Blogroll Page. I downloaded and tried it. It was easy-to-configure and works fine. But it only lists the links from my blogroll without its category. So then, I read the code and checked the databases, and I said, “I think I could do something about it”.
Minutes later, I modified the code (luckily, it’s GPL). It took some times after finally the plugin could show categories and links inside it. Now, you could download it for free. You could see it works on my class’s aggregator links page.
Here are the installation instruction:
- Download the blogroll-page-with categories
- Extract it and place it on your plugins folder
- Create new post or page for your links and write in its content:
<!--blogroll-page-->
- You could change the Open links on a new window and the Support links options on the Settings > Blogroll Page. I didn’t change it.
- That’s all folks!
Hope this plugin will help you. As usual comments are welcome.

I’ve been talking to some of my friends concerning this act. Well, some said that it will be a bug when they read the posts. But from another perspective, it will generate some to paid the–future planning–hosting and domain. I also think that it may help one of us who in needs. But that still far in the future.
